Why a new aquatic center?
The Allen Memorial Pool opened to the public in 1959. It has served the people of the Decatur County area for over 60 years! While that kind of longevity is to be appreciated, nothing lasts forever. The Allen Memorial Pool is no longer feasible to operate.
What are we building?
The proposed new aquatic center is not just a replacement pool. An aquatic center will not only enhance the recreational options for the community but will bring about other benefits. These can be options such as rehabilitation and exercise in addition to teaching our children how to swim.
More than swimming.
The proposed aquatic center will offer more than just swimming. It will feature 2 water slides. One slide is for the whole family, at once! Also in the works is a lazy river. Relax and float, or get moving and walk in the water for some exercise. Or do both!
